Getting There

There are a few different ways to get to the island – here are the best options with their respective pros and cons. A helpful tip: check ticket prices after 12am on a Wednesday. This is when most airlines ‘reset’ their fares for the week, so you can be first in on the best prices.
victoria

Fly to Victoria

Obviously, this is the most direct, painless route – and if you can find a reasonable deal on airfare we recommend this. From Victoria’s airport, your only need is finding a rental car.

Have fun, explore the island, and we’ll see you on the 30th.

vancouver

Fly to Vancouver

We recommend this route for most people. If you’re going to make a vacation out of it and want to spend some time in Vancouver – this is definitely encouraged and much easier if Van is your point of entry to Canada. From the airport you can pick from any number of rental car agencies, and the ferry docks are a short, easy trip outside the city.

During the summer, ferries between the Mainland to Vancouver Island run every hour on the hour. The first ferry departs at 7AM, and last ferry departs at 9PM, all day every day. The ferry trip between Tsawwassen and Swartz Bay (Victoria) is approximately 1 hour and 40 minutes.

seattle

Fly to Seattle

Again, this is going to be a long trip. If you’re going this route, we recommend coming in at least the day before the wedding. Having to get from where you’re at, then deal with land, sea and air travel all in the same day can and will probably be stressful. And we want you to have fun and relax when you’re with us.

… And If You Plan on Returning Home.

Don’t forget – we live in a post-9/11 world, so check that September 10th mindset at the door! The Canadians might welcome you with open arms without a U.S. Passport, but you’re not getting back home without one. If you don’t have one yet, better get moving. It takes months unless you want to do a costly expedite. Kids and teens 18 and under will be able to enter with proof of citizenship, i.e. Birth Certificate; no photo needed.
